Each year at this time, in my overzealous weeding in our home in Upstate New York, it is inevitable that I contract poison ivy. In years past I have used Calamine and Benedryl creams, with disappointing results. Last night, as I noticed the telltale rash and the first signs of itching on my forearms, I applied argan oil, as I do for most skin conditions for myself and my family. Remarkably, the red bumps and blisters were minimized and the itching stopped almost immediately. This morning I applied it again and found immediate relief. I don’t know the science behind it, other than argan oil is anti-inflammatory and high in Vitamin E, but I’ll never use anything else again.
