Our Mission and Values | Our Products | Efficacy and Quality | Argan Oil | Our Philanthropy | Our Founder and CEO | Our Mantra WebsiteMeetTheFounderWith a career in building luxury sustainable businesses, Katharine L’Heureux recognized a gap in the marketplace for premium organic skincare. After discovering argan oil on the first of many trips to Morocco, Katharine conceived of a niche beauty brand that would provide exceptional products while elevating the people and cultures behind them. In spring 2008, Katharine launched Kahina Giving Beauty. As founder and CEO of Kahina Giving Beauty, Katharine has built a global line of luxury skin and body care products. Each product is thoughtfully produced, from sustainable sourcing, to green formulations and environmentally-responsible packaging. Katharine actively works to support the artisans at the heart of the brand. A graduate of UC Berkeley, Katharine began her career in New York working in the editorial division of Doubleday & Company. After a return to her hometown of San Francisco she co-founded the public relations firm, Welles Phillips & Associates. With a focus on natural and sustainable food and beauty brands, the firm represented clients such as Odwalla Fresh Juice, Bare Escentuals, and The French Laundry Restaurant. After moving back to New York and raising three children, Katharine launched her second independent business venture – Kahina Giving Beauty. Introduced to argan oil during a 2007 trip to Morocco, Katharine was impressed by its performance and moved by its unique story. Working closely with top organic chemists and packaging designers to realize her vision, Katharine developed and produced the Kahina Giving Beauty product line and brand, infusing it with her minimalist esthetic and philanthropic spirit. Kahina Giving Beauty embodies Katharine’s dedication to supporting indigenous people and culture, protecting the environment and giving back. She frequently visits the Moroccan argan cooperatives from which the oil is sourced to ensure the fair and proper treatment of the Berber women who extract it. She also works with suppliers and local social activists to identify these women’s most urgent needs in order to give back in a way that directly improves their lives and communities. Katharine serves on the Advisory Board of the High Atlas Foundation. A Northern California native, Katharine is also a partner in her family’s sustainable vineyard and winery in the Napa Valley, Vine Hill Ranch.
