International Cooperative Day is Saturday, July 3

berber-woman

Celebrated annually on the first Saturday of July, the United Nations International Day of Cooperatives recognizes the positive contributions the cooperative movement makes to resolving global issues. The day is intended to increase awareness of the goals of the United Nations and how the cooperative movement can help the UN realize them. This year’s theme was declared “Cooperative enterprise empowers women,” to celebrate how cooperatives play a key role in improving the lives of women around the world by offering work opportunities, access to education and healthcare and challenging gender biases.
