Argan oil is one of the rarest in the world due to the small and very specific growing areas of the Moroccan argan tree. Kahina founder Katharine Phillips L’Heureux cottoned onto its antioxidant-rich benefits on a trip to Morocco five years ago, but the inspiration came from the female descendants of the ancient Berber tribeswomen, who extract the oil. ‘The Berber women are the most generous, warm people. Whatever food they have, they share,’ says L’Heureux. ‘I wanted to highlight them as the real artisans, including using their signatures on the packaging, and naming the line after a Berber queen.’
