"Argan is one of the most widely used and readily available carrier oils, thanks to its lightweight texture, which doesn't clog pores - but Allan considers this 'the best one on the market.' Plus, the company donates one percent of its annual revenue to organizations that assist the women in the South of Morocco."

"Created with Moroccan hammams in mind, Kahina's Moroccan Rose Beldi Soap and Kessa Mitt deliver shockingly soft skin by way of a gentle (but thorough) physical exfoliation. The soap is pretty gooey on its own, but creates an ideal emulsion when paired with the mitt. The ritual itself is invigorating, as it helps to stimulate lymph nodes and slough off dry skin. Pro tip: You can also use the mitt (which is imported directly from Morocco) as a dry brush when traveling.
]]>''I grew up in the '60s and '70s in San Francisco,' says Katharine L'Heureux, founder and CEO of Kahina Giving Beauty of her earliest associations with the note, which at the time weren't totally positive. 'Now I realize that a good quality patchouli is something quite different from the fragrance of my memories.' She formulates her products with a patchouli sourced from India (where its known as "Tamil"), which she classifies as earthy, woody, and slightly spicy."
]]>"The outer packaging on Kahina's organic products are created from 100% recycled paper. In addition, bottled products are made from high quality recyclable violet glass, which helps preserve products by blocking damaging light rays. That means less waste and less money spent. It's a win-win.
]]>"If you haven't yet tried Kahina Giving Beauty, a Moroccan skincare line that equally effective, ethical and empowering, International Women's Day is the time to do it. "We have greatly improved the lives of impoverished women in rural Morocco by providing a market and fair wage for their labor, allowing access to education for young girls, and running water and electricity for a remote village high in the Anti-Atlas Mountains, Katharine L'Heureux, the brand's founder tells TZR. 'At the same time we provide healthy alternatives to traditional skincare for women around the world.'
According to L'Heureux, be a woman in business has actually been her greatest advantage. 'I created the products that I really wanted to use - effective, sustainable, and beautifully packaged,' she says, calling Kahina's organ-infused Oil Cleanser one of her favorites. 'I was determined to market Kahina in a way that I felt was not condescending to women and that would emphasize the positive rather than playing on women's insecurities.'

"If you've got chapped lips or a dry, irritated face, this blue tansy spiked balm will provide some much-needed TLC. Along with healing botanicals are renewing immortelle and rich butters (think mango nut and shea) with the enticing scents of neroli and geranium, which make it something to keep on hand in harsh temps."
]]>They've also donated 100 sheep to women in the Anti Atlas Mountains of Morocco to provide wool for weaving, 84 pairs of winter boots to the children of the village of Ait Goh in the Anti Atlas Mountains, provided healthcare for 25 women of a cooperative outside of Agadir in southwest Morocco and offered free room and board for 12 girls so that they can continue their education beyond third grade through Education for All, Morocco. Finally, they've constructed a girl's bathroom to serve a public primary school outside of Marrakech. Girls were not attending school due to the lack of privacy and hygiene - as a result of the new bathroom, the school is seeing attendance rise among girls.
Try this: Argan Oil ($82), the obvious choice, this do-all oil intensely nourishes hair, face, and body but never feels greasy.
]]>"Kahina Giving Beauty brings a feel good mission to customers and the makers behind the botanical-based skincare. A percentage of revenue goes back to a community of Berber women in Morocco, who do the hard work of extracting argan oil-the nourishing ingredient at the heart of the brand's products. Kahina not only provides them with economic freedom, but also educational initiatives and everyday needs like eyeglasses. The new cleansing Neroli Beldi Soap, based on those used in traditional hammam bathing rituals, launches worldwide in October. We're all for beauty that goes more than skin-deep."
