Creating change and empowering women: the inaugural G(irls)20 Summit

There are approximately 3.3 billion girls and women in the world and the organizers of the G(irls)20 Summit see it as 3.3 billion ways to change the world. The event, to be held June 15-26 in Toronto, is modeled after the G20 Summit, bringing together one girl from each of the G20 countries, and one representing the African Union, to discuss how the Millennium Development Goals for girls and women can be achieved. You can read more at their site by clicking here.

We particularly like the Change Room where you can read suggestions from girls around the globe on how to achieve universal education, improved child and maternal health care and the eradication of poverty. Make your voice heard by joining the movement and submit your idea for what initiatives need to be put into action to create positive change for girls and women everywhere. You can also vote on existing suggestions and watch video ideas.

At Kahina Giving Beauty, we strive to change the world by supporting the women who work at the argan oil cooperatives from where we source our key ingredient. At the time of the 2004 census, the illiteracy rate for girls in Morocco was nearly 60%. Many argan oil cooperatives offer literacy programs and provide women with the ability to earn an income, empowering them and their families with educational and economic benefits.
