Kahina at Urban Zen for Fashion Week

kahina_display_urban_zen1

It's been a busy week for Kahina. Last Thursday we went to ABC Home & Carpet for their love, love, love Valentine's Day apothecary party, offering up argan oil hand massages. This Sunday and Monday we were thrilled to be a part of Donna Karan's Urban Zen fashion week event: "Nomadic Collection Black Fall/Winter 2010." The two-day event featured other exceptional, international artisans, including a photographer, jewelry designer, and weaver. Kahina was billed as "Natural Beauty in a Black Bottle." Above you can see our products' elegant display at the store, a space where clean design meets global cultures and philanthropy (they donate 10% of profits to their Urban Zen foundation). In the store we watched as Donna Karan, models, other designers, editors, and celebrities buzzed around before and after the DKNY and Donna Karan fashion shows, which were conducted in an adjacent space. Haiti permeated the atmosphere and the esthetic, as all wore and/or bought Haiti relief shirts. Immediately upon entering the store, a huge Haiti relief tent was on display for the Hope, Help & Relief/Tents Today Homes Tomorrow campaign launched at their recent benefit. A model, upon finishing the Donna Karan show, requested a t-shirt, stated her support and proudly mentioned that she had already purchased a tent. From the tents at Bryant Park, fashion week capital, to tents in Haiti, via Urban Zen... it's retail and fashion with soul & spirit. Kahina is looking into how we, too, can be a part of this vital reconstruction effort. Stay tuned! A big thank you to the Urban Zen staff for welcoming us into your space and sharing Kahina with such a receptive audience. Also, a special thank you to our friends and loyal customers who paid us a special visit; we so enjoyed meeting you and/or seeing your friendly face!
